SCIENTIFIC JOURNALS OF THE JOINT VIETNAM–RUSSIA TROPICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CENTER

The Joint Vietnam–Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Center currently publishes two scholarly journals: Tạp chí Khoa học và Công nghệ Nhiệt đới (TCKH&CNND), which primarily serves the Vietnamese scientific community, and the Journal of Tropical Science and Engineering (JTSE), an English-language journal with an international focus. The two journals have distinct missions and target readerships but share a common commitment to modern scholarly publishing practices, including independent peer review, scientific quality, publication ethics, editorial transparency, and accessibility of research findings.

1. Tạp chí Khoa học và Công nghệ Nhiệt đới (TCKH&CNND)

Tạp chí Khoa học và Công nghệ Nhiệt đới (TCKH&CNND) is a multidisciplinary scholarly journal that has been published since 2012. The journal operates under Press License No. 1479/GP-BTTTT, issued on 20 August 2012 by the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam, and was assigned the International Standard Serial Number ISSN 0866-7535. On 9 April 2024, the journal was granted a renewed Press License (No. 91/GP-BTTTT), covering both print and electronic publication.

The journal publishes original research, scientific reviews, and other scholarly contributions of scientific, technological, and practical significance. Its principal subject areas include ecology and environmental sciences; chemistry and materials science; biomedical sciences, pharmacology, and biotechnology; as well as other relevant fields of tropical science and technology. TCKH&CNND primarily serves scientists, researchers, lecturers, practitioners, and the broader science and technology community in Vietnam. The journal particularly values studies relevant to Vietnam's natural conditions, environment, health, resources, and scientific and technological development needs, while also welcoming international collaborations and research with broader scientific relevance. Since 2026, TCKH&CNND has been published four times per year, using a Volume and Issue numbering system. The journal publishes articles in Vietnamese and English. All issues published between 2012 and 2025 remain part of the journal's continuous scholarly record, with their original academic status, DOI records, and publication information preserved. Manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo editorial assessment and scientific peer review before being considered for publication. The Editorial Board comprises scientists and subject specialists from research and academic institutions in Vietnam and abroad. TCKH&CNND has been included by the State Council for Professorship of Vietnam among the recognized scholarly journals for the evaluation of scientific publications in several disciplines, including Biology since 2016, Chemistry and Food Technology since 2019, and Medicine since 2020.

2. Journal of Tropical Science and Engineering (JTSE)

The Journal of Tropical Science and Engineering (JTSE) is an English-language scholarly journal launched in 2026 to disseminate high-quality research to the international scientific community and to promote academic exchange and collaboration between Vietnamese researchers and their counterparts worldwide. JTSE builds on the scholarly publishing experience and infrastructure developed since 2012 while pursuing a distinctly international orientation in its editorial organization, manuscript selection, peer-review process, publication ethics, transparency, and quality standards.

The journal publishes research in ecology and environmental sciences, materials science, engineering, biomedical sciences, and related fields. JTSE particularly encourages interdisciplinary research that integrates ecology, environmental sciences, materials science, engineering, and biomedical sciences to address complex challenges in tropical and extreme environments, thereby contributing to sustainable development through rigorous, innovative, and internationally relevant research. JTSE gives priority to manuscripts demonstrating scientific novelty, methodological rigor, and relevance beyond a single locality or case study. Purely descriptive studies, routine applications, or studies whose significance is predominantly local and whose broader contribution has not been sufficiently demonstrated may be more appropriately considered by TCKH&CNND. JTSE is published entirely in English, with four issues per year. All manuscripts undergo editorial assessment and independent peer review before they can be considered for publication.

3. Two Journals, Distinct Missions, Shared Standards

The parallel publication of TCKH&CNND and JTSE from 2026 is intended to address two complementary needs in scholarly communication. TCKH&CNND continues to serve primarily as a scholarly forum for Vietnam's scientific and technological community, with particular emphasis on research of scientific and practical relevance to Vietnam. JTSE addresses an international readership and places greater emphasis on scientific novelty, international relevance, and contributions to research questions of broader significance. This distinction allows manuscripts to be directed to the journal best aligned with their scope, level of contribution, and intended readership. It enables the Joint Vietnam–Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Center to maintain a strong scholarly forum serving Vietnam while simultaneously expanding its scientific visibility and engagement with the international research community. Both journals are committed to the principles of scientific quality, independent peer review, research and publication integrity, editorial transparency, and internationally recognized good practices in scholarly publishing.
