Laboratory of Microbiology

Head of Laboratory: Dr. Ngo Cao Cuong

Laboratory of Microbiology is a research unit under the Department of Biotechnology. The Laboratory has conducted research on the biodegradation characteristics of microorganisms to a number of materials, assemblies, and electronic components in tropical climates through a self-test program at microorganism test sites at Hoa Lac, Dam Bay, and Can Gio testing stations of the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center. Do research to create a number of preparations for application in organic waste treatment in saltwater environment. Do research on dioxin chemical residues and their effects on ecological environment. Some technologies for treating oily wastewater use indigenous microorganisms.

MAIN RESEARCH DIRECTIONS

- Do natural testing and accelerated testing of materials, assemblies, and protective coatings under the influence of microorganisms in tropical climates to combine assessment of corrosion, aging and biological destruction.

- Do research on appropriate solutions and technologies to prevent biological destruction of materials, assemblies, equipment, etc., used in the conditions of Vietnam.

- Do research to manufacture microbial products and apply biotechnology to treat waste and organic waste in normal and saline conditions.

- Do research and extract biologically active compounds from microorganisms for high application in practical defense and civil life.

FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT

- The laboratory includes a system of equipment for freeze-drying, fermentation, anaerobic microorganism culture, DGGE denaturation electrophoresis system, PCR gradient, accelerometer, cold centrifuge, etc. and test yard system microbiological testing at Hoa Lac, Dam Bay and Can Gio testing stations.

- Other equipment for research on microbiology, molecular biology, environment, etc.
