The Laboratory of Pharmacy is a unit under the Institute of Tropical Medicine with the following functions: Conducting scientific research, Applying research results into practice, transferring technology, Training staff, coordinating with other units inside and outside the Center to perform assigned tasks.
MAIN RESEARCH DIRECTIONS
- Research on extracting biologically active compounds from tropical animals, plants and microorganisms as raw materials for the preparation and production of health protection products.
- Research and manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations applied in the prevention and treatment of diseases
- Research, application and transfer of techniques, technologies and products of the Russian Federation in the field of pharmacology
- Coordinating with scientific and technological activities in the field of tropical biomedicine with research Laboratories in the Center and other units and organizations at home and abroad to perform tasks.
- Building and developing potentials of science and technology, participating in training professional and technical staff.
FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT
Laboratory for research activities on extraction of natural compounds, chemical synthesis and microbial culture and for the preparation of pharmaceutical products (extract, syrup, essential oil, hard capsule, tablet, cream...). Equipment for basic research: Extraction system, rotary evaporator, UV-VIS infrared chromatograph, laboratory safety cabinet system, drying cabinet, culture cabinet, chemicals and equipment other for research activities.
RESULTS
- The Laboratory of Pharmacy has been presiding over the implementation of 17 topics and tasks at all levels (04 at Center levels, 07 at Institute levels, 06 at coordination committee levels), participating in the implementation of 08 other projects and tasks, including 02 ministerial-level projects in the Truong Sa Islands, actively participating in the fight against Covid 19.
- Being the main author of 12 scientific articles published in specialized journals in the country and 01 article in international journals. In addition, it is the co-author of over 10 other scientific articles published in domestic and foreign specialized journals;
- Applied product "Tavinga Capsules" which has been licensed for circulation by the Laboratory of Food Safety/MOH.
FORM COOPERATION
- Cooperation in research and development pharmaceutical products from Vietnamese typical materials to boost specific workforce’s health.
- Cooperation through signing research contracts, through academic exchanges and training.
