Marine research and testing station
Head of Department: Master Mai Van Minh
Introduction
Dam Bay marine climatic testing station belongs to the Coastal Branch of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center and was established in 2004 on Hon Tre islands, Nha Trang city with a total area of more than 10ha. The station has the functions of carrying out scientific research, testing, and coordinating with other units inside and outside VRTC in implementing research and testing in the station.
Main research directions
- Testing and evaluating the impacts of natural atmospheric conditions on the effectiveness of anti-corrosion and aging of coatings.
- Studying to evaluate the influence of natural atmospheric conditions on the effectiveness of methods and technologies for anti-corrosion protection of materials, metal and alloy details, and assemblies.
- Studying and evaluating the influence of marine environmental conditions on the effectiveness of methods, technologies, and coatings against marine fouling.
- Researching on cultivating process, selecting, and conserving genetic resources of marine species in Dam Bay area, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province.
Facilities and equipment
- The Cambell weather station automatically measures, records, and transmits 14 climate and environmental parameters to the station's control department and directly to the Coastal Office.
- Natural testing areas include grass grounds, concrete floors, storehouses without walls, storehouses with louver windows and doors, a bouy system, and rack systems in both terrestrial and marine.
- A laboratory for sample processing before and after testing.
- Equipment for monitoring and evaluating the state of the surface and some properties of materials.
- Area for microbiological testing.
- Area for researching and trial-raising marine species (in both terrestrial and marine).
Main results
- Leading, coordinating, supporting and ensuring the operation with other units inside and outside the Center to conduct natural tests, evaluate the tropical durability of thousands of materials under different test programs, in both atmospheric and marine conditions.
- Researching on cultivating process and conserving genetic resources of marine species in Dam Bay area, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province
Form of cooperation
- Coordinating with other units in carrying out and ensuring research operation of materials, details, assemblies, and technologies in improving the durability of materials in both terrestrial and marine.
- Carrying out natural testing services to assess the durability of materials and technical equipment in marine climates.
- Coordinating and ensuring the biological diversity research, trial breeding, and artificial reproduction of marine species.
