ACHIEVEMENTS AND REWARDS
Achievements
On the research direction of tropical durability, the Branch has built, tested and successfully applied many technological processes to preserve weapons and military technical equipment, such as vacuum technology, inert gas technology used in the storage of weapons; technology for manufacturing military radar antennas with high tropical durability to replace antennas imported from Russia (P12, P18, P37, IL 13-3 and 55J6 antenna elements according to prototypes produced by the Russian Federation with high tropical durability); anti-corrosion technology by means of cathodic protection; technology for producing materials to preserve military technical equipment from Vietnam's petroleum sources; optical equipment storage cabinets; develop a synchronous solution to improve the tropical durability of the PK-KQ air defense information station cluster in the Spratly Islands, etc. A number of technologies have been standardized and approved by the Ministry of National Defense for application to preserve, improve the service life and combat readiness of weapons equipped in some units in the military. In addition, in the field of natural testing, the Branch has been implementing testing programs on the system of drying yards at Can Gio Applied Research and Testing Station.
On the research direction of Tropical Ecology, promoting the potential strengths of the prestigious scientific staff in the field of ecology of the Russian Federation, the Branch has presided and coordinated with scientific organizations in the field of ecology and outside the military, conducting research on biodiversity and the current status of typical tropical ecosystems in many national parks and protected areas in the southern provinces (such as Yok Don, Cat Tien, Bidup - National Parks - Nui Ba, Lo Go - Sa Mat, Con Dao, Phu Quoc, Bu Gia Map, Vinh Cuu, Binh Chau - Phuoc Buu, Can Gio NRs, etc.); study the role of ecosystems in the context of climate change through the operation of two monitoring stations Nam Cat Tien and Can Gio; study the anthropogenic impacts and climate change on the ecosystems of the lower Mekong River; biodiversity research in military zones of Military Region 7 and Military Region 9. From the obtained results, the current status of ecosystems in the study area was evaluated, a list of flora and fauna species was collected, and scientific articles, monographs and atlas on fauna and flora of Vietnam were published; and propose solutions to protect and rationally exploit biological resources.
Some typical results in applied ecological research are domestication research, dolphin training for science and other purposes; study on preventing accidents caused by birds at military airports; to study the cultivation of high-yield green vegetables on the waters of the Spratly islands; effectively maintain high-tech aquaculture models at Can Gio Applied Research and Testing Station.
In the field of environmental protection research, the Branch has achieved many practical results, which are: technological equipment to ensure a clean environment for pharmaceutical and aquatic product production; water purification equipment for daily life of military units and large-scale residential clusters; equipment for ultrapure water purification for infusion; sterile box, hote equipment for hospitals inside and outside the military; waste treatment technology for hospitals; equipment and technology for domestic wastewater treatment in the waters and islands of the Spratly Islands; protective equipment to prevent bacterial dust, prevent epidemics (SARS, H5N1, etc.); Eco-technology in livestock wastewater treatment, etc.
In the direction of tropical biomedical research, the Branch has closely coordinated with the Central Highlands Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to study plague in the Central Highlands. The research results have great scientific and practical significance, contributing to clarifying the origin, history of the formation and transmission of bubonic plague in the world, and making practical contributions to the National Plague Prevention Program in Vietnam. The Branch has coordinated with the Institute of Tropical Biomedicine to research and develop methods for diagnosis, treatment, prevention and health rehabilitation for Agent Orange/dioxin victims; complete and create hundreds of new victim files to serve the lawsuit against American chemical companies that produced toxic chemicals and supplied them to the US army for use during the war in Vietnam; study on the adaptability of Vietnamese pilots in the process of using modern fighter aircraft manufactured by the Russian Federation in order to improve combat readiness and flight safety; research and surveillance of newly emerging and re-entered infectious diseases in Vietnam by modern methods; Research and application of OXCA therapy in disease treatment and rehabilitation, over the years have treated hundreds of thousands of patients safely and effectively.
Currently, the Branch's Laboratory is operating according to ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 (Vilas 1236); The shrimp farming system at Can Gio Applied Research and Testing Station is applied according to VietGAP standards of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Stationed in the area, which is very active in science, technology and environment activities, the Branch always actively cooperates and participates in solving practical needs of the locality. In the period 1996 - 2021, the Branch has presided over and participated in the implementation of 43 topics, tasks and projects at the level of Ho Chi Minh City and some provinces in the region, actively contributing to the economic development, education and training, national defense - security and environmental protection of localities in the southern region.
Along with great results in science and technology activities and building and developing science and technology potentials, the Party Committee and Board of Directors of the Branch have always focused on building a clean and strong Party Committee in association with building an overall strong branch; building unity and solidarity within the Party committee and the whole unit, implementing open democracy in all aspects of work, and facilitating organizations, collectives and individuals to promote their creative abilities to well-fullfil their assigned responsiblities and tasks; rregularly well-implementing policy work, military rear, mass mobilization work, and paying attention to improving the material and spiritual life of officials, soldiers and employees, creating an atmosphere of excitement to emulate for the cause of the unit development.
