Joint Vietnam-Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Center awarded the First Class Labor Medal on its 35th founding anniversary

On the morning of March 7, 2023, in Hanoi, the Joint Vietnam-Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Center (VRTC) was awarded the First Class Labor Medal and solemnly celebrated its 35th founding anniversary (March 7, 1988 - March 7, 2023).

An overview of the ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice State President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam; Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defence; Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Department of Political Affairs; Mr. Gennady Stepanovich Bezdetko, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam; Mr. Kucherenko Petr Aleksandrovich, Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Sub-Committee in the Intergovernmental Coordination Committee on VRTC; leaders of ministries, central branches, functional agencies of Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

In the commemorative speech, Major General Dang Hong Trien, General Director of VRTC emphasized that over 35 years of building, striving, and growing, with the attention of senior leaders of the two countries; the interest and support of ministries and branches; the collaboration between science and technology organizations of the two countries; the coordination of agencies and units inside and outside the Army; the efforts of generations of officials and employees of both Vietnam and the Russian Federation; VRTC has constantly grown in all aspect, becoming a prestigious multidisciplinary tropical science and technology organization in Vietnam, the Russian Federation and internationally. The Center’s research results have significantly influenced the advancement of science and technology in general and of military techniques in particular, effectively serving military and defense tasks and fostering the country's socio-economic growth, meeting the interests of both Vietnam and Russia.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Center’s Party Committee and the Board of Co-General Directors, he expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of the Party and State, the Central Military Commission, leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, and the Intergovernmental Coordination Committee on VRTC; the Russian Federation Embassy in Vietnam, and organizations and research institutes of the Russian Federation, as well as agencies, units, committees and local authorities for supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Center to complete its tasks during the past 35 years.

On behalf of the Center's leaders, Major General Dang Hong Trien would like to acknowledge and express his sincere gratitude to the former leaders of the Coordination Committee, former leaders of the Vietnam Sub-Committee, former leaders of the Vietnam Division, officers, soldiers, and employees who have devoted their ability and enthusiasm to building and developing the Center.

At the event, Prof., Dr. Kucherenko P. A., Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Sub-Committee in the Intergovernmental Coordination Committee on VRTC affirmed that the Center is entering the new development stage, that will allow for significant breakthroughs, not only in terms of acquiring new scientific knowledge but also in terms of applying them in practice for the benefit of national defense, security and socio-economy of Vietnam and Russia. Deputy Minister Kucherenko believed that VRTC will remain a pioneer in science and technology cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan praised the Center's efforts, outstanding results, and achievements over the previous 35 years.

In her speech, she urged the Center to keep expanding its comprehensive capability, and further innovate the quality and efficiency in all aspects, particularly in science and technology; striving to become a renowned science-technology organization, with various fields reaching the regional and international levels; being capable of participating in and implementing key scientific programs of the State and the Ministry of National Defense, continuing to be a trustworthy address in the friendly cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The Vice State President expected that the Center would make more considerable progress in the coming time, striving to build the Center into a leading science and technology organization of the Army and the country; actively contributing to building a «revolutionary, regular, elite and gradually modernized» Vietnam People's Army; and advancing the friendly cooperation and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia, for the benefits of citizens of both countries, for peace, cooperation, and development of the region and the world./.
