Scientific conference: "Some issues of monitoring and diagnosis of influenza molecules".

15/12/2017

Implementation of the scientific research cooperation program between Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center and Federal Agency for Supervision and Protection of Consumer Rights and Social Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), on December 12th and 13th, 2017, Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, in collaboration with the "Vector" Rospotrebnadzor National Science Center for Viruses and Biotechnology, Russian Federation, held a scientific Conference entitled "Some issues of monitoring and diagnosis of influenza molecules".

Senior Colonel, Dr. Doan Anh Tu, Deputy Director General of Science of Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center delivering his openning speech at the Conference

Attending the Conference were the Board of Directors of Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, leaders and scientists of the “Vector” Center, delegates from relevant agencies and organizations inside and outside the Army, and Tropical medicine and Biotechnology staffs of Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center.

In his keynote address to the Conference, Dr. Ryzhikov A.B. emphasized that today every inhabitant of in every corner of the planet could face any strange disease, especially infectious ones. Underestimating the importance of preventive measures or failing to respond promptly to an outbreak could lead to serious consequences. The emergence, development, and the process of pandemic control of some recent diseases indicated that the emergence of new infectious diseases or the global spread of re-emerging diseases should to be continuously and rigorously monitored by experts and the entire community. This is not just a national or even regional problem, but it is a world issue.

Facing practical requirements, the exchange of experiences between scientists and experts in the field of infectious disease monitoring and control in Vietnam and Russia should be conducted on a regular basis. The fact that the two sides' cooperation began with coordinating efforts to combat the influenza virus showed an understanding of the importance of the issue, not just for the economy and health of the people of each country, but also the common understanding of the potential threats of this infectious disease.

At the Conference, reports were presented on a number of issues and methods of monitoring influenza viruses with pandemic risk and assessing the risks of pandemic occurrence; serological and molecular methods used in studying influenza viruses; and building and development of new methods for monitoring, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of avian influenza in humans and animals. Discussions focused on assessing the pandemic risks of in Vietnam, methods of detecting new virus variants, studying genetic characteristics, and researching models of virus virulence.

Scientific Conference: "Some issues of monitoring and diagnosis of influenza molecules"

The conference was successfully held and marked a scientific and technical development step between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in the field of infectious disease monitoring, specifically highly pathogenic avian influenza with pandemic risks. This is also a task to implement the cooperation program between Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center and Rospotrebnadzor, showing the efforts of the scientific staff of the two units. Through the conference, in can be seen that cooperate to carry out research on infectious diseases in tropical conditions – urgent topical issues for both countries in general, including the issue of ensuring biosecurity. Within the framework of the conference also confirmed, one of the important tasks of the cooperation program was carried out - training to improve professional qualifications for scientific staff from Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center and other related organizations and agencies in Vietnam.
