07/12/2022On December 7th, 2022, the Joint Vietnam - Russia Tropical Science and Technology Research Center (VRTC) successfully organized the scientific conference “Tropical Biomedicine - Scientific and practical issues” towards the 35th Anniversary of the Center (March 7th, 1988 - March 07th, 2023). Colonel, Dr. Pham Duy Nam, Deputy General Director of VRTC chaired the conference.
An overview of the meeting.
The conference had the presence of Major General, Dr. Dang Hong Trien and Dr. Sc. Kuznetsov A.N. - Co-General Directors of the Center; Board of General Directors; delegates from science and technology organizations of Vietnam and Russia; representatives of organizations inside and outside the military; leaders and scientists of VRTC.

Inaugurating the conference, Colonel, Dr. Pham Duy Nam, Deputy General Director of VRTC stated that: The Center focuses research on three main directions: Tropical Materials, Tropical Ecology & Environment, and Tropical Biomedicine, in which Vietnam - Russia scientific and technological research cooperation activities have the participation of more than 50 scientific and technological organizations of the Russian Federation.
Over nearly 35 years of development, with the attention of leaders of Vietnam and Russia, the leadership from the VRTC Coordination Committee, the support and cooperation of organizations inside and outside the military, the efforts and creativity of Vietnamese and Russian staff, the Center has overcome difficulties and challenges and become a multidisciplinary tropical science and technology organization with a position and professional reputation affirmed in Vietnam, Russia, and the world.
The achievements of the Center not only contribute positively to the defense, security, and socio-economic tasks of the country but also contribute to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership of Vietnam and The Russian Federation.

He emphasized that the conference is an opportunity to exchange information and enhance cooperation possibilities between VRTC and different organizations on scientific and technological activities and product development in the direction of Biomedicine.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Center, Deputy General Director Pham Duy Nam expressed his thanks and gratitude to the organizations, agencies, and the scientists of Vietnam and Russia for their great support and cooperation with the Center in implementing scientific tasks. He also expected that VRTC and the partners will maintain this firm cooperation and support in the future.

In the plenary session and 02 thematic sessions, delegates heard nearly 20 scientific reports and discussed the outstanding results in recent years of the Center in the direction of Tropical Biomedicine.
On this occasion, the Center published 02 special issues of the Journal of Tropical Science and Technology consisting of 38 articles subjecting to the theme of the conference.
